Lost Summer

The only sand was the sands of time
That slipped between my fingers
The only love was the learning kind
Of lessons which meanings still lingers

The only smoke was the harshest kind
Burning my throat as it passes time
The days trade their passionate heat
For isolation that becomes too hard to beat
The summer fades away, the night air cools
Lost again where loneliness makes the rules

I wish I could relive summers of the past
They are locked away along with their casts
All the lovers and friends who made me who I am
Are gone now - and I must become a different man

There is a glass cage, seems like I can break it
But I can't change their ways, not can I fake it
I'm the nomad now - the one I used to ridicule
If you sort it out - I look like the biggest fool

This summer is so strange
I don't know what to do
Nothing can be changed
Lost summer - I'm stuck with you
